…moves to Agbor, Oloku, and Sapele Roads soon

Residents of MM Way by ICC, Agbor Road by Guinness, Oluku by 7Up and Sapele Road by RCC in Benin City, the Edo State capital can now heave a sigh of relief as the state government moves to restore sanity on specific sections of these areas.

Government is worried that heavy-duty trucks have turned sections of these roads into parking bays, thereby constituting a nuisance in the area and to other road users. A task force was constituted last week headed by the Hon Commissioner for Justice, Oluwole Iyamu, SAN to clear these areas and any other area that could constitute a clog to the free flow of traffic in the Benin Metropolis.

The task force which has hit the ground running started the rehabilitation of the damaged portion of MM Way. 12 heavy-duty trucks were last week arrested at MM Way and taken to the office of EDSTMA. The state Deputy Governor, Rt Hon Comrade Philip Shaibu has directed that owners of the arrested trucks will be made to pay for the construction of a new drain channel.

According to the Project Director, MACFRANKLYN Construction Company, Engr. Osa Omoregie, the stretch of MM Way damaged drainage is about 250 meters from the Immaculate Conception College and the State Government has approved new side drains to be constructed with a barricade to prevent trucks from parking in the area.
